A school administrator is supposed to help students stay on the right track, but when an educator becomes the subject of a criminal investigation, the situation takes a very disturbing turn.
Kaitlyn Hintz, a 32-year-old associate principal at Bonduel Middle/High School, has been arrested over alleged sexual misconduct involving a student.
Hintz was arrested on Monday, according to information shared with parents by the school district. The arrest came a little over a week after a tip was submitted through Wisconsin’s Speak Up, Speak Out reporting system.
The tip alleged “inappropriate contact between the associate principal and a student,” the school said, calling it a “serious situation.”
Hintz was booked into the Shawano County Jail for multiple charges, the sheriff’s office said, without elaborating, citing the ongoing investigation.
However, the school district stressed in the letter to parents that “none of the communications in question took place through district platforms, and none of the alleged interactions occurred on district property.”
It’s unclear how long Hintz has been working at the school, where students range in age from 11 to 18.
“We recognize that this news is deeply concerning for students, families, staff, and community,” the school district said.
“The safety and wellbeing of our students remains our highest priority.”
The case is likely to raise difficult questions for the school community. Parents will want clear communication, students will need support, and school officials will have to address concerns about safety and trust.
For now, the focus should remain on protecting students, establishing the facts, and ensuring that the investigation proceeds fairly.
When it comes to student safety, nobody should be playing games. Schools have enough drama with exams, homework, and students pretending they never received their assignments.
The adults in charge must be the ones setting the right example.
