Ex police officer Kim Potter has been found guilty on all counts in the shooting death of Daunte Wright. While she may have not reacted much when the verdict for first-degree manslaughter and second-degree manslaughter were read, she managed to crack a smile for the camera in her latest mugshot.
With two images of the convicted killer, Potter is seen with a wide smile in one photo and the other photo is taken from the side. Once the photos were released, a few people commented with their reaction.

One person wrote, “They should remember that smile during sentencing time.” “Not her being happy about going to jail. She better protect herself.”
If you recall, the jury returned this verdict after 27 hours of deliberation, before returning a guilty plea.
Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison stated, “Accountability is not justice. Justice is restoration. Justice would be restoring Daunte to life and making the Wright family whole again. Justice is beyond the reach that we have in this life for Daunte. But accountability is an important step, a critical, necessary step on the road to justice for us all.”
Speaking on holding officers in high regard, Ellison also stated, “We hold you in high regard, and we also hold you to high standards. We don’t want you to be discouraged. Your community respects and appreciates you. We want you to uphold the highest ideals of our society and ideals of safety,”
Kim took the stand in her defense and cried while testifying. She adamantly stated it was a mistake.
“I remember a struggle with Officer [Anthony] Luckey and the driver at the door. The driver was trying to get back into the car … I went around Officer Luckey as they’re trying to get back in the door. They’re still struggling and I can see Officer Johnson and the drivers struggling over the gearshifts because I can see Johnson’s hand and then I can see his face,” Potter stated.
[Sgt. Mychal Johnson] had a look of fear on his face — nothing I’d seen before. We’re trying to keep him from driving away. It just went chaotic. And then I remember yelling, ‘Taser, Taser, Taser,’ and nothing happened and then [Wright] told me I shot him.”
If you recall, Daunte Wright was shot during a traffic stop. Kim Potter insisted she thought her gun was a taser.
Kim Potter would be sentenced on February 18, 2022. She faces 15 years for manslaughter in the first-degree and 10 years for manslaughter in the second-degree.
