Roommates, we are sending our deepest condolences to the family of actress Suzzanne Douglas. Many of us have grown up watching her in various roles both in film and television. Unfortunately, she passed away on Tuesday at the age of 64.
News of her passing started to circulate last Tuesday when family members took to Facebook to announce her passing. The news was confirmed early Wednesday after her rep released a statement.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, her rep said in a statement, “The industry has lost a truly talented artist with the passing of Suzzanne Douglas. She touched everyone who knew her and was lovely in every sense of the word. The family appreciates your support and asks for their privacy during this difficult time.”
The details about what caused her passing were not revealed.
Nonetheless, she was honored by her friends and co-stars as they remembered her for all that she contributed to the industry and their lives personally.
Robert Townsend, who starred alongside in the 90s classic sitcom “The Parent ‘Hood,” spoke about her passing and said, “My heart is full this morning because yesterday I lost, my amazing dancing partner on TV for 5 years Suzanne Douglas. We did “Work” on the TV series THE PARENT’HOOD. She was always a part of the ultimate plan, create a TV series with old fashion morals and values, use the show as a Trojan horse to help raise a generation of black kids without mamas or daddies, quietly planting seeds of hope and new aspirations in between the jokes.”
He ended his tribute by saying, “I just remember a lot of laughter and a lot of tears… her regal bright light will be missed….”

Jada Pinkett Smith, who starred alongside Suzzanne in the 1994 films “The Inkwell,” and “Jason’s Lyric,” also sent her condolences.
We are keeping Suzzanne Douglas’ family lifted in prayer.
