It’s a name we all know and love. Rodney Scott’s BBQ has become one of Birmingham’s go-to for some stomp-down good barbecue. Looks like the BBQ Hall of Fame took notice and now the founder, Rodney Scott has been announced as a semi-finalist for induction into the BBQ Hall of Fame.
What is the BBQ Hall of Fame?
Well, it’s exactly what it sounds like. The Barbecue Hall of Fame recognizes and celebrates the heritage of barbecue—something Birmingham knows very well. Election into the Hall of Fame is a top honor and inductees are determined by their delicious contributions to the barbecue community.
Nine individuals were announced as semi-finalists on May 27. Three of those individuals will be inducted into the 2020 class of the BBQ Hall of Fame. Fingers crossed that Rodney is one of them.
When will the finalists be announced?
The BBQ Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will occur during the American Royal World Series of Barbecue. I didn’t even know this existed before writing this article, but I bet they eat well at these events! The ceremony is scheduled to take place on Saturday, September 19, 2020 in Kansas City.
Birmingham wishes the best of luck to Rodney Scott. Anyone who’s been to Rodney Scott’s BBQ knows first-hand how he made the list of nominees. We’re always excited to see a local fave succeed.
