The host of one of the most popular TV shows announced he was taking a leave of absence from his job during his apology to Black people for expressing a stance on racism that he admitted was borne out of “ignorance.”
Chris Harrison, longtime host of dating reality TV show and contest, “The Bachelor,” made the announcement Saturday following increased attention to what was described as his multiple racist statements in the past.
He released a statement of contrition on Saturday via his Instagram account.
“I have spent the last few days listening to the pain my words have caused, and I am deeply remorseful. My ignorance did damage to my friends, colleagues and strangers alike,” he began his statement with before adding later:
“To the Black community, to the BIPOC community: I am so sorry. My words were harmful.”
