Authorities have released the name of a man found dead in Center Point Thursday morning.

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Christopher James Burgay. He was 23 and lived in the Center Point area.

Jefferson County sheriff’s deputies were called to a home in the 1500 block of Second Place N.W. about 9:15 a.m., said Chief Deputy Randy Christian. Once on the scene, they found the adult male – now identified as Burgay – in the front yard. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

Christian said the man’s body was taken to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office where a medical exam will be performed to determine the cause of death. Authorities have not said what led them to deem the death a homicide nor released the cause of death.

“We are following what we believe are promising leads,” Christian said.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office at 205-325-1450 or Crime Stoppers at 205-254-7777.
